History

BRIGAND:

The Bristol Brigand was a replacement for the Beaufighter and the RAF's first piston-engine attack aircraft. It served with the RAF in Malaysia during the Malaysian Emergency.

 

BRITANNIA:

Known as the “Whispering Giant”, the Britannia was designed as a medium / long range turboprop airliner to fly on BOAC’s Empire routes around the world. Although a successful and well-loved early airliner the Britannia was quickly superseded by Boeing’s turbo-engine jetliners.

 

BOXKITE:

The Boxkite was the first ‘Bristol’ Aircraft to fly successfully and go into production at Filton. Two replicas were built for the film “Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines.”

 

BRABAZON:

The Biggest airliner in the world (1949) when it was first flown, the Bristol Brabazon was designed to fly a hundred passengers on transatlantic routes to the USA from the UK. The Brabazon remains the largest land plane ever built in Britain

 

BEAUFORT:

Built in 1935 the Beaufort was a general reconnaissance and torpedo bomber with over 2000 planes built in the UK and Australia. With a major role in operations over Britain in 1941 when it was used in the early version of airborne radar.
